Babylock Crescendo!
I finally got my Babylock Crescendo - I am so excited! Thank you so much to everyone who helped me make this momentous decision. (ha ha) I LOVE my Crescendo. It is just a wonderful machine. The dealer I bought it from does not know much about it as he has never sold one before, so I am on my own - no lessons. Luckily the manual is very easy to understand so I have been working my way through it. If any of you Crescendo owners have any tips you can send my way it would be very much appreciated. So far I like everything about it, especially the needle threader and laser beam. The free motion quilting is great. I still have lots to try but I sure am having fun learning! Woo Hoo!

Congratulations on your new toy!!!!!!

Congratulations! Sounds wonderful!

Good for you! Have fun with it! That is the one I have been looking at, and my dealer has a great sale going on right now. Did anybody ever negotiate when buying a machine? They have it on sale for $4500 (down from $4900), but I am thinking maybe seeing if I can get it down to about $3800.

beaglelady - congratulations!! That's what I have and you are going to love it!!
quiltin-nannie - lucio is correct, just like car dealers!! When I decided what to get, I had made up my mind exactly what I was willing to pay. They weren't going to give me enough for my trade in, so I kept my machine, told them what I wanted to get the machine for, and then the haggling began. They went to management, who said they couldn't do that price, so I thanked them and walked away. Shortly after I got home, they called me and continued to haggle. They finally got down to what I considered a reasonable price, and I went back and got the machine! Lucio made another good point, what classes, etc are they willing to throw into the deal? |
You will love it. My husband gave it to me for our 50th WA. The woman who did the class for me didn't know the machine at all. But the gals that work in the sales dept. told me I can have as many classes as I wish through one of them. This machine is beyond my wildest dreams - just finished a quilt label this a.m.- that is fun to make.

I have the Baby Lock Espire and thought for sure that I was done buying sewing machines. Then I saw the Crescendo and that beam light has me fascinated. It is on my wish list for sure. So congratulations on your new addition and I wish you two many joyful hours.

Congratulations, I am sew happy for you. I can only dream.

Sooooo envious! I'm treating myself to a Crescendo in three years, but it's hard to be patient. Please keep us posted (pun intended!), and let us know how you like the laser pen thing. Enjoy!
|
Oh goodness gracious. I just watched the video for it. I'm sooo jealous!! Have fun.
|
CONGRATULATIONS!!! I have a Crescendo and love it. Baby Lock doesn't have many youtube videos for the machine BUT there are several for the Brother Dream Weaver which is more than a whole lot like the Crescendo.

I got mine last year for $4500. Was told that BL sets the prices. The laser is okay and have yet to use the sensor pen successfully. The best thing is the dealer though he is too good of a salesman as he has sold me 2 berninas, a BL excape and 1500 quilters pro. One bernina I upgraded to a 153 bernina and don't know how he talked me into the crescendo. Niece now has the bernina. My daughter has the excape (I think it's called an Audrey now). i have a fw to take to class. The crescendo is toooo heavy to cart around.

Congratulations, have fun with your new machine!

You are going to love it! I just got the Unity. Had actually planned on the Crescendo but decided that since this is my LAST machine, I would get the combo for what little embroidery I do. I have a 5x7 but that 7x12 with a color screen was a deal breaker! I haven't been able to take any lessons yet and boy, is it intimidating on my own! Ive got a wonderful dealer tho, with life time lessons, so just have to find some free time.
I also have the Symphony and the Serenade and don't see too much difference with the way the Symphony works, except for the extra bells and whistles. |
Thanks everyone - the more I use my machine the more I like it. But still lots to learn!
|
That's sew awesome! Have a Creative Day! I think the laser beam's the best thing since the rotary cutter!

Yes go to the brother dreamweaver site, there are alot of videos on the muvit foot, and the pen features, highly recommend viewing them
|
One feature I love is you can use the regular (J) foot and sew 1/4" seams. Go to the quilting stitches, select the quilting stitch (I think Q-2). Get an index card. Put the edge of the pressure foot on one of the lines. Make sure the needle comes down directly on the line next to it. Adjust the position of the needle, if necessary. (You can also set it to sew a scant 1/4" if you wish!). Then hold the memory button down.
The next time you turn on the machine and press Q-2, the needle will automatically go to that needle position. You won't have to do it every time. I can always sew a scant perfect 1/4 inch and I love it. BTW, since it's too big to cart around for classes, what are you going to use? I am thinking about getting a Brother Project Runway PC420PRW. It weights 17 lbs and has the threader and cutter....only $369.00. |
Congrats on your new machine.
I upgraded my Crescendo to the Unity and it was truly just to add the embroidery (which I use so much more than I thought I ever would.) There's not a lot to "learn" - the machine is very intuitive. If your dealer is near by, go a couple times and have the sales girls show you some things - they usually have the advanced features down pat. Suggestions: when you set a stitch, lock it. I find when working on a big piece I've occasionally bumped the screen and changed my stitch. Unity Suggestion - check out the snap hoop. Pricey but oh so easy to hoop versus all the screw tightening, etc. LOVE mine. |
Thanks a lot for the tip to get a scant 1/4 inch seam, Girlfriend. I am going to try that today!
|
The snap hoop or the monster snap hoop is on my wish list! I've heard pros and cons on both of them. Some say the allow the hooped item to slip too much. Can you supply any feedback?
