I have the pvc floor frame, but find it had to work on, since I twist and turn in all directions usually..I ended up back using my 14 inch PVC frame.

I use a 18" hoop on a floor stand (Jasmine). It works perfect for me because it's completely turnable and you can adjust the height as well. I only hand quilt in one direction and need to turn my work.

Try the cheapest and work upwards until you find a way you like. I have friends with the frame but prefer sitting with hubby in thee evening and hand quilting on their knee.

I don't use a frame....I just sit in a puddle of well basted quilt sandwich and stitch to my hearts delight:)

I have a Grace Z44 that I have used only once. I found it hindering and it took up the living room floor space. It now sits in my bedroom awaiting someone to rescue it. I prefer just quilting in my lap with a running stitch using long milliner's needles. The basting is what is important, good basting and you can quilt with any method.

I have looked at Barnetts Lap Hoops and thought I would prefer his floor frame that swivels over anything if I were to use the quilting stitch. I have my grandmother's oval floor frame but cannot pivot the fabric, plus this means it pools on the floor, not a good place with a house full of pets.

I use a lap hoop. It sits on the floor, adjusts in height and angle, and stands straight when you want it out of the way.

I use a hoop anywhere from 14" to 18". It all depends on what design I'm quilting.
