I'm still jealous!!! Would have loved to have gone!! Lucky ladies!!

The art theme was definitely true. I didn't care for most of the ones at the convention center. One first place ribbon was a single piece fabric quilt completely machine quilted! Wow. Lots of talent there. A lot of picture and applique pieces. And apparently the big thing this year is to put jewels and metallic thread in your quilt. I kept expecting one of the vendors to sell a Bedazzler! The vendor quilts were much more to my liking.

We usually go look at the big winner but I don't hardly ever look at any of the quilts. I am more into the old time traditional quilts and most of these are real elaborate art. Not something you would put on a bed or in a chair. Don't get me wrong, these quilts are beautiful and I can't imagine ever attempting to make one, but I see all I need to see in the vendors areas. I don't see how those Japanese ladies make such small pieces come together. They must have itty bitty fingers.

We were in Paducah on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday am. Being it was our first time, we were surprised at all different types of quilts. Had such a great time that we are planning on going to the Des Moines, Iowa show in October.

Glad you enjoyed the show. I am always in awe of the interpretations of all the quilts. The art quilts are awesome, even though I am not interested in making one myself. I do enjoy scenic quilts. The log cabins done by the Japanese ladies were wonderful reminders that the simple log cabin can be elevated to such an inspiring degree!

I'd like to go to the show in Vermont, heard it is one of the best in the country. Maybe someday.
