Back to quilting today after 3 month hiatus!
 

We had to tear our kitchen out, down the the floor joists and start over. There was major water damage from a leaky water line (between the floor joists where not seen) and even had to replace some floor joists. But today, I finally get to do some quilting...5 bow tucks bags. I have checked in on the board occasionally, but no sewing at all. Just no time between being the "gofer", or "come here honey and hold this", or laying ceramic tile, or explaining to DH for the 15th time why I want it this way. The final result will be a shiny new beautiful kitchen and pantry, but darn I miss quilting....way too many projects waiting to be done. And now I have to make new curtains for 3 windows. I am thinking of appliqueing small quilt blocks to the edges of a basic panel...any suggestions?....something simple and fast as DH doesn't like wide open windows...LOL

Welcome back to quilting! I think your curtain idea is great. You could always put up the "plain curtain" and add blocks later...though if it were me, I'd probably never get back to it... Pick a block you like and just go for it.

Welcome back. That sounds exhausting.

Rather than appliqué you could just piece a row of blocks into the curtain, something like this one.

I can so understand your pain. We did a total kitchen/dinning room / living room redo last Summer. We took 2 walls down. Removed popcorn ceiling stuff and painted everything. We laid a small tile space at the back door. We laid wood flooring. We had the cabinets, electrical and the counters installed.Hubby did the plumbing except for the heating pipe that had to be moved, with a vent pipe in the attic that had to be moved. All inspections passed. Here I sit at my beautiful island typing to you. I so missed sewing last Summer. I was too tired to try. As we put stuff in the sewing room I could not get to the machines if I had too. I missed it more than I realized I would. Hang in there it will all work out and you will get the projects finished before you know it! Luann in CT

You had a very good reason for not quilting. I would love another kitchen redo, not going to happen unless something like yours happens. My Husband is tired of redoing things. We have lived here for 44 years and done and redone several times. I love to change things. I am the finisher and would hate to take time to do it but, for a change I would gladly do it. You will soon have a wonderful new kitchen. I like your curtain idea, I too hate bare windows.
