Background for McKenna Ryan

6 Attachment(s)
Trying to choose the right background for this McKenna Ryan applique. The greenish yellow, blue and cream or gray blue. I really don't care for the blue and cream, but the other two both seem OK.Which would you use?

Making pepper placemats with a little "help".

minibarn 02-15-2017 08:48 PM

I can't help you w/your question but your dog is cute and I have a question for you. Where did you get that magnifying glass on your sewing machine? I need one of those. And, the placemats are very pretty.

I like the fifth picture. The birds stand out against the pond water background. Your helper has such a cute face.

One or five for me...... I too would like to know about the magnifier!!!!

Hugs

Caroline

I definately like 1 and 5 too! It gives life to the whole applique. The other colours seem lifeless and dull. Beautiful work!

SewCraftyGirl 02-16-2017 02:44 AM

5 is my favorite. 1 is my second choice.

sewingitalltogether 02-16-2017 04:23 AM

#3, it looks like a blue grey day.

quilterpurpledog 02-16-2017 04:38 AM

I like 1 and 5 because they complement to applique rather than back away from it. The others seem stark and do not blend with the beautiful applique. Please show us your final choice after you finish this beautiful wall hanging. And, to those who asked you about the magnifying glass for your machine: I purchased one from my BERNINA dealer. I think it would be suitable for other machines.

I vote #5. It has the movement and color of water with light on it. Your puppy is so cute. Is it a wire fox terrier? I had a welsh terrier and currently a wire fox. They are a truckload of personality and a little bit of _iss and vinegar! Lol!

Jennifer23 02-16-2017 05:54 AM

I like 3 and 4. 5 is okay, but it doesn't really look like water or sky to me. 1 is too bright for my taste; I feel like it draws attention away from the beautiful applique.

Your assistant is adorable!

Tartan 02-16-2017 05:55 AM

I vote #4, enough contrast so the applique shows but not too much pattern to compete with it. Cute inspector!

sinceresissy 02-16-2017 06:00 AM

I like one but five is good.

DogHouseMom 02-16-2017 06:00 AM

I like 1 and 5 ... they both look like murky ponds with ripples, #1 on a sunny day, and #5 on a cloudy day!

Mariposa 02-16-2017 06:34 AM

I vote for #5. Your helper is a cutie!

costumegirl 02-16-2017 06:58 AM

Your furbaby is adorable!!

I vote #5 :)

It's an older Magnistitch magnifier. I have one on each machine as my applique foot is metal and has a very small opening (industrial machine).

I live with my sister and her husband and this is their 4 year old wired fox terror! I am often up late sewing and she likes to "help".

sewbizgirl 02-16-2017 08:34 AM

The last one is perfect, and so is your pup!

Kitsie 02-16-2017 09:26 AM

I like the neutral, light ones. The storks and reeds show up better and are the focus.

dunster 02-16-2017 09:30 AM

#3 was the one that first caught my eye. #5 is second. #1 is too bright , #2 and #4 look dull. Just my opinion, and I hope those pretty birds are going to get their beaks soon.

BonnieI 02-16-2017 09:38 AM

I like the 5th one the best. I also love your helper.

I prefer #1 or #5. I think your work looks good with the background of #5 the best. Love, love, love your furry helper. So cute.

KLO 02-16-2017 01:01 PM

I must say that I like #3 and #5 but then I am a blue or green girl in general. The first one seems too bright but that may just be due to the lighting and how it came up on the computer screen. Love those McKenna Ryan patterns!

quiltingshorttimer 02-16-2017 06:54 PM

1 or 5 for me--others' seem to allow the applique to fad into the background.

cashs_mom 02-16-2017 07:28 PM

I like 5 best. 1 second best.

Anniedeb 02-16-2017 09:38 PM

I like 5, followed closely by 1. Love the herons!

Skhf 02-17-2017 04:14 AM

I love the green tones.

LindaJ 02-17-2017 04:15 AM

I think 5 . The only one I didn't care for was 2

slbram17 02-17-2017 05:14 AM

I like the last one best..reads more like a water background.

carolynjo 02-17-2017 05:30 AM

I think Nancy's notions sells the magnifier. They've been around for 25 years.

EmiliasNana 02-17-2017 06:20 AM

I like #5. The green swirls appear as pond water with reflections of the blue sky. The herons pop against it and their heads are clearly visible. Too pretty an applique to lose in the background.

salederer 02-17-2017 07:26 AM

I like the first one, the yellowish green really makes the birds pop.

fivepaws 02-17-2017 10:20 AM

I like #5 and I think the magnifier came from Home Sew. Love the pup.

sJens 02-17-2017 01:40 PM

I like 5 and 1 both make the Heron jump out. Love your fur baby.

tessagin 02-17-2017 02:34 PM

I like the first and last pics. That fur baby is adorable.

wildyard 02-17-2017 04:42 PM

I love 5. It feels like water reflecting a natural green surrounding. The small circlets look like a gentle rain on the water, where the birds would be feeding.

grammysharon 02-18-2017 09:37 PM

My favorite is 3 but like 5 too!!
