Backing that has both minkee and cotton
I am finishing a baby quilt and need to piece the backing. I have 2 large scrap pieces of minkee that I can sew together so its big enough but wondering about different ways to piece it so that it looks a little more interesting. My question is, would it look or feel weird if I used leftover cotton fabric from the front top and piece that inbetween the 2 different colored minkee pieces?

Does not sound too weird to me.

It sounds cool, go for it.

One of my favourite ways to join 2 different coloured fabrics for a backing is to put a row of alternating squares down the middle. It makes a zipper effect with cotton fabric but I don’t know how it would work with Minkie.

Don't see why not. Give it a shot.

Would there be much difference in thickness? Wondering if it would be a high/low effect. Then again, batting may even it out a bit.

couple of thoughts--are you planning to send it to LAQ? Cause when we load minky (or any fleece) we find it works better if the stretch is going side to side instead of pulling with when we roll the quilt--so I'd advise to make sure the Minky stretch is all the same direction.

I've done it and the person I gave it to was thrilled to get it. Go for it!
