I have made a blanket out of it, but I haven't quilted on minkee yet.

I have a long arm and have used minkee a couple of times and you have to be very careful not to stretch it too tight. If done correctly, it works great and I would imagine that something like that would be a lot harder on a home sewing machine as it does want to keep moving the whole time and at least on the long arm, it can't go anywhere. It makes a great quilt. I used batting in one and not the other and I liked putting the binding on better with the quilt that had the batting as there was more to hand sew the binding too. Both turned out good though.

I haven't used any store bought throws. If I did, I would prewash it and definetely pin, pin, pin, lol.

I've used them as batting but not as backing. If you can wade through the stretchy, it would sure nuff be warm!

Haven't tried it but would love it on the back of the quilt.

I have used Minkee. The key is to pin, pin, pin, and use a walking foot. The walking foot is esential to keep it from bunching and puckering.

I quilted one on my mega quilter viking. It was on the frame and I made sure the stretch was OK before quilting it.
It came out perfect and my friend was happy.

I have used fleece several times (no batting) and pinned well. Had no problem using my walking foot and I love the cozy feel and warmth of fleece.

I have never tried minky or fleece - I have gotten bargains on flannel sheets and used those - wash it first . I have gotten them for 5-10 a set after the holidays going into spring. I am sure this year will be a bit different but still alot cheaper than 10 per yard

I love the feel of minkie, but haven't worked up the nerve to try to sew it yet!

I have not but it sounds like a good idea perhaps for hand sewing.
