I am trying to lay out the backing which I ironed with sizing. seems to have lots of waves in the middle of sheet. Should I tape to floor ?Any tips on how to lay out for pinning. Thanks so much for your help. Jeanne

I tape mine to the floor, or pin it to the carpet, stretch out the backing enough so it it just slightly stretched.

Yes! I use painters tape, and start by taping at the center of each side, then using my hands I straighten the fabric taping it without pulling on the fabric. With painters tape you can easily lift it off and replace it a number o times while straightening the fabric.

If it is a huge back, this may not work, but I use giant clips that you get at an office supply store and clip it to my cutting table, then I work in sections with spray baste and smooth, smooth, smooth batting, then top.
