Another topic here made me realize I hadn't seen this hint. I NEVER put my quilts in a garbage bag. I know me and what I'd do. I bought giant zip lock bags at Target. A customer told me about them. I just sent a king size quilt to the customer in the bag (inside a box) with the excess batting/backing so I know it'll hold any quilt you all do. Like I said, it's a giant zip lock and they're blue in color. Price -- a VERY reasonable $5.-+ for 5 bags!!!!!!! Hopefully this will help you all!

I make a matching pillowcase for storage.
The large zip lock is an excellent idea for shipping. |

Really good idea! Just as an aside, if I'm shipping small clothing/sewn items in an envelope, I *always* put them in a ziplock bag just in case the envelope tears. (Obviously you couldn't fit a quilt in a shipping envelope - lol.) And depending on what it is, I'll either staple a card with the shipping info to the top of the bag or slide it inside the bag - again, just in case the envelope tears.

I don't know that they carry them all the time, but I did get some giant bags at The Dollar Store once. This wasn't too long ago.
