Is there anywhere to find independent reviews of this machine? I'd been considering a WOW, but am having second thoughts.

I know there's at least 1 gal that has a Bailey, unfortunately I don't remember who it is. I was under the impression that she liked it though. Once we get our house built, the Bailey is one I'm seriously considering getting. I hope someone can help you better than me.

I got the Bailey 15 in November, I do love it. The other girl on here with one is Janeen and I'm pretty sure she loves hers too. I didn't try any others so I really can't compare it but so far I don't have any complaints about it.

I am the proud owner of a Bailey 13" Home quilter. I am totally happy with it. Any problems I have encountered have been caused by operator ignorance or negligence.

I cannot say enough about the Bailey family and their desire to have happy customers. If you buy a Bailey, you are buying from the people who designed and build this machine. They know the ins and out of it and can give you an answer for any problem you might encounter.

Chuck Bailey has been teriffic in all matters of help. He will also send you small packages with needles or bobbins, or new Laser lights, or things that you feel you need.

I broke a couple of needles (my own negligence) and caused some damage to the needle plate. From that time on I had bobbin thread that was breaking. He talked with me about it...the fact it was always the same length of thread coming from the bobbin case - meaning, the thread was hitting the burr on the plate when I was moving the machine, Consequently, the bobbin thread would break at that same point every time.

This man knows these machines inside and out. He know what their little peculiarities are. He will help you solve every problem you encounter.

He has never once told me I was doing something wrong.....he let me figure out that what I was doing was causing the problem.

Bailey is family owned and you will get personal care. They want you to call them. They are eager to help. 'They want you to get the most out of your machine.

You can call and talk to them before you buy. Mention that I have praised them.

Please stop and think about what kind of "service after the purchase" you will get when you order through a sewing/vacuum company that ships what they have in boxes in a warehouse. Bailey BUILDS the machines in their business.

Right now we are urging people to BUY AMERICAN...and I want to urge you to buy from FAMILY OWNED BUSINESSES so they can continue to stay in business.

I AM GLAD I DID.

if you have any questions, please PM me!

What a wonderful testimonial to the Bailey machines. I hope to own one someday. You sealed the deal for me

rabbit2b 01-31-2009 10:18 PM

Thanks so much! It's great to hear about people happy with their systems... I'm going to look into the Bailey for sure.

I have had a lot of trouble with thread breaking. Pretty frustrated tonight, but will take your advice and call them tomorrow

Have you joined the homequiltingsystems list at http://groups.yahoo.com ? They like you to read their files before asking about specific setups, but if you do a search on Bailey you will likely find quite a few posts.

Thanks!

As it turns out, I got a very nice deal on a demo HQ16 and am expecting it to be set up this Friday...

Call me a happy camper! (I'm still glad to see so many people pleased with the Bailey. It's great to hear about good and conscientious service.)

Congrats Heidi, the HQ16 is my favorite LA. Hope to have someday!

I have a Bailey, and I would like to sell it. I have done about 10 quilts. It is about 2 years old and I really want to sell it.

KimMarie 06-11-2009 01:51 PM

I am having so much difficulty with my Bailey Machine. I really don't like it and I don't know what to do with it. I really want to sell it.

KimMarie 06-11-2009 02:12 PM

My thread breaks all the time, mostly at the top where the little black rubber is on the part that goes up and down. It is so frustrating. I can quilt about 12 to 15 inch section before I need to rethread.

I bought a Bailey 15" a year ago and I had the exact same problem with the thread breaking. I called Chuck MANY times over several months. I changed threads, needles, the bobbin shuttle thing -- all of which did not help at all. It got so that I could barely turn the thing on before it broke. He finally sent me a new machine. I was so frustrated with the original machine that I've just started using the new one in the last couple months, but I've had no problems with thread breakage so far.

Good luck!

Quilting on a machine frame is like dancing. There are many factors to consider before the dance will be fantastic. Which type of frame you have is
a big factor, some are more conducive than others. The quilting machine itself needs regular cleaning/oiling. Some machines are more complicated than others. It could need additional thread guides or need to be timed more frequently. Never use canned air in the bobbin/ race hook area. It pushes little pieces of thread deeper which cause it to seize up later. Just use a brush to clean the area. (ask me how I know)
Thread is a huge factor. Using different weights of fabric on the top and bottom require tension adjustments. Not a big deal to do but you must be willing to adjust that bobbin tension from time to time. Unless you turn the screw way too far you can't do much wrong here. 1/4 turn will not ruin your machine.
The height and tautness of the quilt on the frame will make a difference as well. The speed at which you quilt also factors in as does the fabric and batting and needles. Lots of little things that when working together will make your quilting experience very pleasurable and beautiful. One little thing off will cause you to curse and want to throw your machine out the window. Patience, think things through. Figure out what changed before the problem started. So many little things to consider.

When it all works it is amazing. :D

Was just at our quilt show this weekend and they now have a 17" Bailey with the frame for $ 3875. That's the queen size frame. I figure if I wait long enough they will just keep getting bigger.

Hi Kim, I am new to this website and would like to consider buying your machine. I need to know if the problem is solved and how much you are asking if it isnt already sold. Any information you can give me would be great.
Thanks,

I have owned a Bailey's for several years. I also bought the stitch regulator and it is great too. I love the machine ! Yes, when I go into the quilting stores and see the really expensive brands I still would like to have one of them but I would never spend that kind of money. I like to stipple quilt. It is wonderful for that. You can do designs but I really don't care about that. The support is good too because they have a regular store and you can even call them on Saturdays!

desertdebbe 01-20-2011 10:42 AM

I don't think there is anything in the works for the Bailey to go larger than the 17". I have the 15 and stitch regulator. Absolutely love it.

I have the 15 Bailey Thinking of getting stitch reg. Is this worth it or should I joust get another machine

Born2Sew 10-06-2011 06:57 PM

Most everyone I know that has the stitch regulator loves theirs. I have a 15" Bailey, but currently do not have the stitch regulator. If you like your Bailey, I would add the stitch regulator rather than going with another machine. I guess it all depends on much $$$ you have available to spend.

Here's an older posting from the board that discusses the Bailey.

I have owned my Bailey since 2006 and am very happy with it. I just realized that I can put an extension table on it and use it on a table instead of the frame. I have an adjustable extension table from www.sewingmates.com. This table will adjust to any type of machine, including the Bailey. Great machine. You will not be sorry. Audrey B.
