Hi,
I noticed on the Christmas gift thread that some of you are making baked potato bags. Where are you getting the batting from? I asked at my LQS and she said they quit selling the patterns because even with the warm and natural batting, people were reporting their bags were catching fire. I am asking, because I have a friend who would like one of these for Christmas. Thanks in advance for all of your help |
do a search at the top of the page. There is a batting designed for these bags. I don't remember what it's called.

Your LQS must not know that there is a special batting made for potato bags.

Some places are selling the new batting Warm and Natural has made just for these types of bags.
There are still free patterns on the net, also try doing a search here, there are lots of patterns in the Links section :D:D:D |
This is one of my biggest peeves about quilt shops. The owners/managers do not keep up with what is new and available . It's not that hard, don't they read a few quilt magazines or google what's new in quilting every once in a while? If I asked for a new quilting item and get a look like you're nuts, I leave and buy it online. Their sale loss.
The cotton batting with no scrim is what you want to use. (quilt shop owners do not know this?) One is called Warm Tater Cotton Batting. Scrim is a thin poly layer over the batting. All cotton batting has it unless stated it has no scrim. I found a bolt of no scrim cotton batting at a Walmart that still has the fabric dept. for $3.97 a yard. It's written on the bolt end, no scrim. Here is a link to the Tater Batting and free potato bag pattern. http://www.wholesalequiltbatting.com/a/?p=22 |
Warm Tater Cotton is what you need to buy, will do a search and see if I can find it for you
