I am looking to do a bargello, and wondered if there are books out there that have several patterns in them, or do I need to look for a book for a specific pattern. Some gals can probably figure out their own pattern, but that won't work for me on this type of quilt. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to any who reply.

There are books with detailed instructions on the technique for bargello. You are then free to design away or follow instructions for a particular quilt.

If you do a search here on "bargello tutorial" you might find enough help??

Once you get the basic idea of the Bargello you will not have amy problem figuring out how to do others or design your own for that matter.

I have never seen a book, but these two have the best patterns I have seen

Twist and Turn Bargellos by Eileen Wright. It's a great book with patterns for several quilts. The instructions are easy to understand. Go to Amazon....cheap!

I have "Bargello Quilts" by Marge Edie. Has several nice patterns from easy to difficult.

Would also like to suggest taking the online course at Quiltuniversity.com - take the "Bargello Seasons" which is the beginning class. The class is only slightly more than the cost of the book. In the class you will make 4 different bargello and have an instructor (Ruth Blanchett).

My avatar is from Ruth's second class "Bargello Blues" where she teaches bargello in split patterns (ie you don't use the same strip all the time, nor do you "tube" the strip"), and the second part of the class you design your own and she assists.

I used this book for mine, and although the pattern seems intricate it was fun!
