How do you keep all the strips toghther when cutting the second time?

sorry I have never done one, but I'm sure someone on here can help.

Did you sew the strips together to start with?

In bargello, you sew all the strips together. Then you make a cut for your first row, second row, etc. (Widths usually vary.)

This way you can sew the strips of fabric together rather than sewing all the little squares/rectangles together.

Yes i did sew all 20 strips toghther that is what i'm scared of when I get ready to cut these different sizes they are going to shift

I didn't have any problem with shifting. Is it the amount of fabric. Just fold it in half. It's just like cutting whole cloth.

I took my strip set (20 strips) and folded it in half, right sides together, and pinned the top. I held my ruler down with a really firm hand when cutting and made sure I was cutting with the folds of the seams (does that make sense?). I didn't have any trouble with shifting.

I'm not sure what your pattern calls for but mine had you cut two strips the same size for every row. I wanted to cut all my strips at one time (not go back and forth cutting and sewing them), so I cut the two strips per row and pinned the row number to them. This worked well for me.

I have to cut like 1.5 in 2in 2.5in 2.75in 3in 3.5in 3.75in i believe and it is like 6 strips of each I think I will pin them just to be on the safe side this is my first and am kinda taking my time I have 2 more sets to sew then I start cutting strips again. Thnks to everyone for the help.

You will be fine. The strips were easy to cut and easy to sew together.

I helped my mom make one. I think pressing your strips with seams all going in the same direction before sewing the last strips together to form a tube, will help them lay flat for cutting. What colors are you using for your bargello?

It can help if someone can hold the rule while you cut. Anytime I cut whole cloth fabric I ask the bf to help. It's easier than trying to manage that much, cut, AND hold the ruler in the exact same spot
