Baseball Caps

Has anyone one out there ever made a quilt out of baseball caps? My other half asked me if I could make one for him from his retired caps. I know it would be pretty heavy and small pieces....the logos have the still stabilizer, too. Any patterns, thoughts, or suggestions?? Thanks!!

I have never thought about that, seems it would be pretty hard.

How about a wall hanging, instead?

I made wall hangings for my Eagle Scout grandson out of his 10 years of badges. It got HEAVY before I got them all sewn on. After making that I don't think I would ever make anything bigger than that out of hats.

I would treat the front motifs like badges. I would decide on a shape that would get the special parts on the hat front in like a circle/ rectangles etc. I would mark that shape on a piece of fabric and stitch all around the motif and cut it out. I would then cut a slit in the fabric and turn the badge right side out. The badge could then be appliquéd to a square of fabric to make a quilt top.

This is an interesting request...What if you took the triangles that made up the hat and sewed them together randomly? I know some of the patches would be upside down, but it could make a cool look. A lot of seam ripping too...
