Red, white and green are considered the Basque national colors. Do you think these are your friend's favorite colors?

I have no idea since I haven't been to her home. Is the red real red or a dark burgundy color. Same with the green.

Thanks for your help!

I have no idea. I got that info by googling Bosque national colors. Usually flag colors are primary colors. Maybe you can find a picture of the flag.

Maybe she would like something other than flag colors. I wouldnt necessarily only like red white and blue just because Im American. Perhaps she would like something American traditional or something contemporary.

I usually pay attention to what color clothes a person wears and go from there. One of my friends wears and loves BRIGHT colors and another only wears fall colors... That is how I did two quilts I did for 2 of my friends and when they visit they both always bring their quilts with them...:o

What part of Spain is your Basque friend from? It may be that some design or colors from Navarre or Pomplona or some other area of Spain that is home to the Basque would mean a lot to her. Maybe a discussion about things she misses or that mean a lot about her heritage would help you.

I did a couple of google image searches for basque, basque art, basque culture and basque traditions. Lots of images of the people and flags and dancing and artwork. Definitely red and green (primary, think Christmas!) with lots of white and black accents. White shirts and black aprons and pants in the dance costumes.

Im not sure if the SE Oregon/SW Idaho basque culture has held onto the European basque traditions and heritage or not. My dh has family in that area and 2 cousins that married basque men, and aside from basque names they seem pretty mainstream at family gatherings. I don't know them well though.

Good luck!
