When you baste the layers together, do you use single or double thread?
Thanks! Maren |

It depends on how slick my thread is. If it's cheaper, thicker, fuzzier thread then one should do it.
YEAH, I just got back my "Regular" status!!! |
For the rare times I do thread basting I use a single strand and make sure I don't have the lines too far apart.

single- basting thread is just pulled out & tossed away after-so no sense in wasting twice the amount. and it's alot easier to to pull the threads when it's time.

Single. DCM. Herringbone pattern. It should be simple to pull out the basting as you get to it, because machine quilting over your basting is a bad idea.

Single!!!

i keep my old thread for this task, (even buying at thrift stores) and then baste with a single thread and a loose (1-2 numbers down) bobbin thread...when ready to remove, you just slip out the bobbin thread with one or two pulls and remove the top layer....the older thread yields easily if it has to be ripped...

I would not have thought of this... using the thrift store thread or older thread, good idea!! Thanks

I use a single thread and when I pull it out I thread needles with it to use on the next quilt I am basting.
