I no longer hand sew on bindings. Machine sewn all the way.

If it's the right colour, I would use it. If you plan on hand sewing the binding to the back, I would wash it first so it needles easier.

I think it is a great idea and a great finish for your quilt. I really like to mix batiks with other cotton fabrics in my quilts. I think they add a lot of interest and depth to designs.

I agree. I like the looks of batiks mixed with prints. I think they work very nicely and they are all cotton so they play well together

I mix Batiks and cotton quilting fabric all the time and have never had a problem. I do prewash all my fabrics.

could you share the exact size needle you use. I've been using a very short thin quilting(between) needle on my grandmother's flower garden but my hand cramps up. Tried using a beading needle but too long & flexible. Like you said, all other needles that I've found are too thick and I have trouble picking up just a few threads when I whip stitch my flowers together.
