Has anyone made a rag quilt out of batiks? I'm wondering if the fabric would fray up nicely.

It is tightly woven, not sure it will fray at all. We'll hear what others say.:)

Personally, I wouldn't. One of the nice qualities of batik fabrics is that they don't fray. Just a humble opinion!

I wouldn't, but it is a personal choice. I really like the way flannel frays and it is so cuddly, so that is what I use.

As the others have said, batiks do not ravel and fray.

you could clip the seams but they would not fray. still, it's your choice.

I've only made rag quilts out of flannel. You could make a few trial squares sewed like a rag quilt and test it to see if you like the looks of it using batiks. I really don't think it will "rag" but give a sample a try.....that way you will know for sure.
