I use more Batiks in my quilting than any other fabric. They are beautiful to work with but I also think you need to purchase them from a quilt shop not JoAnns or Hancock. Once you start using good batiks you will be able to FEEL the difference in quality and which will be nice to use.

Once you use the one you bought you will be hooked on Batiks! They are so awesome as blenders. My mom, 84 yrs young, just "discovered" them for quilting and now is buying up a storm!

I have some of that fabric - I just love it.

Gosh! I've not had that problem......just did a kit, in fact, with pieces so small that I could not prewash them. I used Steam a Seam lite on them and had not problem.....should I "knock on wood". Perhaps it's your bonding agent and not the batik?????

Wow, that is pretty. And not a bad price.

I have used batiks in needle turn, and loved it. I guess maybe these old hands and my needles are either sharper and stronger than I thought or I really didn't have a problem, I love it for applique, no fraying and oh the results. (kiss finger tips Italian style) lol.

I also dearly love them and they solved a problem in our family. I told my DDs and hubby that when it comes to gifts for me think Batik. Last Christmas my DH was in Hancocks picking out pieces that he knew I would like, and all the quilting ladies and clerks were fussing over him saying how they wished their husbands would do that. He really enjoyed his shopping trip. Sooo. . . drop those hints, Mother's Day is coming soon. Much better to receive a couple yards of beautiful batik than that same old bath powder.

Batiks are my absolutely most favoritest material of all. I can see me having nothing but batiks in my stash but batiks. Between that and fat quarters, I am good to go. Too bad they don't make batiks in flannel then I would be in fabric heaven.

QUESTION???? Why should you not quilt with batiks? Thanks for the answer.
