batik question
is there a right side and wrong side to batiks thanks for the input its my first time working with batiks i have learned so much from this board its great
|
Actually, you can use which ever side you prefer. There is usually a 'bright' or 'sharp' side and and a more muted side. Use the one you like more.

You can use either side. Some look the same on both sides! Others are a little less bright on "the back" but use whichever one you like. Some folks also use the backside of regular quilting cottons too if the color better suits their project.

some batiks seem to be the same on both sides.. I have seen some that are a little less bright on one side. If you can't tell when you are working with it no one else will be able to tell either

Hey, you paid for both sides -- you can use them both if you want to!! :D :)

Jan - you are funny - but what you say is very true.

When I first started using batiks I was obsessed with 'right' and 'wrong' sides so much so that I used to put a chalk mark on the 'wrong' side :o. It wasn't until I mixed up which side was which that I learned to relax. Now I choose the one I like the best at the time.

I can very seldom, see a difference between the back and front, especially when it's cut up so small....
|
thanks for all the help
