I am ready to put my quilt together. I bought one high loft batt and one low loft thinking that would make a nice thick tied quilt, but when I laid it out it seems really thin. It's for my granddaughter for Christmas--and I want her to be nice and warm. Do you think I should return the low loft and get another heavier one? Hope you all can give me some advice on this. Thanks, Linda

It may fluff up more once it goes in the dryer, they tend to flatten out in the packaging. :D:D:D

I had the same problem when I started quilting a year ago. I really wanted to make comforters, but I couldn't find batting that was fluffy enough. Years ago I used to make comforters, and I easily found fluffy batting.

Maybe you could google comforter batting? What I ended up doing was using two layers of high loft batting, but now I have "given in" and am making flat quilts. It is easier to machine quilt them, that I know.

I hope you find what you need.

The really "puffy" batting my MIL used to use on comforters was polyester if that helps in any way. Those were always tied not machine quilted. If you machine quilt a "puffy" quilt be sure the pattern is large because the quilting flattens it out a LOT.

Are you familiar with Quilter's Dream batting? They have one called "Dream Puff" that might be what you want. The package says that it is excellent for tied quilts, comforters, etc. I puchased my first Dream batting in Colorado and recently used the Dream Wool for my grandson's quilts. It's so soft and warm. I can't get it locally, but ordered some more online and have a package of dream puff, but haven't used it yet.
