Has anyone ever tried the Fun and DOne patterns with the Batting Buddy? I am a beginner and heard it is a quilt as you go pattern..just wondering if it is simple or if anyone had luck with it. I read more than I post here but I LOVE this message board!!!

The batting buddy is a BIG help for it. i took a class last spring at LQS with a friend of mine. It was fun and pretty easy to do.

Please explain what a batting buddy is.

Do you mean the templates they sell to go with the patterns? Yes, I have one and yes, it was Fun and Done. I plan on making more. I just bought a second pattern.
|
Do you think they would be fairly easy for an advanced beginner?
|
Yes! To me the instructions were clear. I started with the pattern that calls for strips and it went fast.

There have been tons of pictures of the Batting Buddy style quilts...

I have made three of the fun and done quilts for gifts. They are pretty easy to do and look nice when done. I didn't buy the batting buddy though. I made my squares larger because I wanted a larger quilt so I took a 12 inch vinyl tile square that I had left over from my laundry room floor and cut the center out so it served the same purpose. I didn't use anything for the first one, but when I made the square frame it made things alot faster.

I think I might use this method for my kids' twin size quilts. It would probably save a lot of cussing and throwing stuff.
