Batting made from recycled plastic bottles

I'm into recycling. I used vintage sewing machines to make all my quilts.
In researching fabrics and batting, I found this product.
Wondering if any others know about it, and if so, have used it.

Once I use up all my batting in my scrap quilting projects, I will be looking into purchasing this item.

I'm like you; I'm into recycling. I've used Dream Green on a couple of quilts & like it a lot. It quilts easily & drapes well. The only problem I've found is that a shadow of the green shows through when I use white or very light colored fabrics in the top.

One of my friends used that batting in a gorgeous snowball/9 patch quilt. She made it for herself and ended up giving it away. She is approaching that "warmer" stage of life and said she about cooked under that quilt. LOL She said it quilted beautifully but it was just too hot for her to sleep under.

Haven't heard of it but I know they can make fabric from soda bottles some how.

I'm glad you asked this; I've been very curious about that batting, but haven't made the plunge to buy it.

i bought a full roll several yrs ago, used it up for 'gift quilts'. and it seemed to work fine. i was trying different batting to see how they worked at the time. still do that. just got into my last full box of 'warm and natural', cut it today. soon, i'll probably buy another roll of some different kind to have on hand for less expensive quilts i throw together.

i've used dream-green a number of times- the quilts i made for the granddaughter's to keep in their vehicle (they spend alot of time on the road) has dream green- they have held up well over the years- wash and dry well- it was a nice batt to use/quilt-it is the same (fabric) as polar fleece---warm and durable.

I have been using it and I love it it is not all wrinkly when you unfold it lays flat, a dream to sew through, and warm. dont use anything else anymore, as they make many different kinds and lofts i believe. Though not all made from plastic like this one

I've used it many times and so has our guild as it is very inexpensive. I like it for tied quilts and stippling quilts otherwise I have trouble machine quilting with it. When finished, the quilt is what i would call a little stiffer than cotton batting. I only use it for donation quilts as to me also has more of polyester batting characteristics. I'm sure LAQ would not have any problems with it.

I use it all the time in my quilts and love it. I found it at Hancock's of Paducah a few years ago and have been ordering it online ever since. My LA Susie also loves it for the larger quilts that she does for me. Says it is very easy to work with.

I haven't used the batting but just bought a tablecloth made from recycled bottles. It's beautiful. The stains are supposed to just wipe up.

Nancy Zieman had a program on different battings. You'd be surprised at the steps the plastic goes through to get it into batting. I don't think it's really environmentally friendly. The process uses a lot of chemicals.

I am very leery of these battings, we are not supposed to freeze or heat pop bottles, yet they are okay to go into a dryer once made into batting? Just a little food for thought *wink* :) :) :)

It works great! I like sewing with it! I am careful to not use really light backgrounds, so the green doesn't show through.

someone mentioned that the recycled plastic was very warm. that's prob why one family says, 'it's the only quilt he needs during the winter'. i couldn't understand that. another one in the same family exclaims 'how warm and snuggly she is upstairs'. etc. just used it, and didn't pay attention to where the quilts went at the time.
