batting from Marshalls dry goods

I am going to place my first order with Marshalls today. I am a little concerned about the quality since the wholesale prices are so cheap, but I am going to try it out. My question is about the batting.. they have 16 different batting showing, but there is not much information on them. "orange bag", "black bag", "grey bag" what does that all mean?

I don't trust anything when the price is so low because the quality won't be up to my standard. I purchase wholesale batting from P&B fabric, Hobbs and Dream Cotton. The shipping is always what kills me.

I haven't ordered batting from Marshall's, but have their fabric and have been VERY happy with the quality. Their customer service is also great.

I have ordered my batting from Marshall for several years.. I have had no problems. I order 6.6 for everyday utility quilts. They also carry Hobbs 80/20 at a very good price.. Call them on the phone and talk to them they are very friendly and helpful.. Love that place need to make another run down there this summer..

I just ordered 2 bolts of material... at that low price I am concerned about the quality. But I guess I can't say anything until I try it. I didn't order batting yet.. the price may be low.. but you have to spend more $$$ to get that. That can be my next order - - if I am happy with the fabric

Often JoAnns online has a 50 percent off batting sale... and sometimes there is free shipping or $1.99 flat rate shipping. You just have to keep an eye out for the right sale.

JoAnn's shipping is $1.05 today only - I like the recycled Pellon one. I am going over to Marshall's site to check their Hobbs batting. I get mine when Connecting Threads has 30% off.

hav not bought batting from marshalls but I have purchased quite a few times in the fabric and I have never been disappointed think you will be very happy with it if not let them know they like happy quilters :)

They recently opened a Hobby Lobby not too far from us and I got Hobbs Premium batts for better than half price with a coupon. Paid about $13 for a queen size and not much more for a king. Does anyone know if they honor coupons from JoAnn's too?

I live close to Marshall's. All the LAs in this area buy batting from there. Different quality batting is in the warehouse from brand names to craft batting. Call one of the reps and they can tell you all the brands they have.

sounds like maybe I should give them a call, but as always, shipping is a killer

I just bought some Pellon that is 100% cotton from Walmart – nine yards for $36 and change. There's free shipping for orders over $50. I got it over the weekend but haven't opened it yet. I think it will be good for charity quilts, plus I use fleece a lot for backing so I don't really need *too* thick of a batting.

Did anyone ever use Joann's special shipping rates on OVERSIZED large rolls of batting? A while back I read the small print and understood it to say oversized items didn't qualify for this special shipping.
