Batting Question

I've just completed two rather large applique quilt tops (snowmen!). I'd like some advice on batting for these. They will be displayed rather than used and so I'm looking for something rather light in weight but that still has some loft to it. Thanks!

Hobbs 80/20 has good loft

Hobbs 80/20 is lightweight but still with some poof.

You could put an extra layer of batting behind the snowmen to give more definition.

This!! It's basically machine trapunto (but trapunto is a scary word so - double the batting!) ;)

A lot of people don't like poly but if it were me I might consider layering inexpensive high loft poly behind the snowmen to make them puffy...then layer cotton over that. If you have a little extra moolah to spend I hear wool batting is nice...breaths like cotton but gives the loft of poly. :)

Wool battin' is the best I've ever found. It does need ta be quilted w/in 3-4 inches & it is a bit expensive.
