Batting question
Is using batting with scrim, it is suggested that you put the scrim side down on backing. How can you tell which is the scrim side?

With Hobbs 80/20 batting, I never did anything. It is posted on W&N website:
https://warmcompany.com/content/faq Might just be with LAQ. |
I never paid attention to front or back of batting. I use Hobbs 80/20, wool, or silk blend for 98% of all my quilts so it works either way for me.

Hobbs 80/20 doesn't have scrim. Some other Hobbs products do, as does W&N. The preference for scrim side down is for longarm and domestic machine use, but 9 times out of 10 (I just made that figure up) you won't have a problem if you get it wrong. But if you do discover a problem after the quilt is finished, it's too late to fix it. (Unless you enjoy picking all those stitches out of the quilt.)

I use W&N all the time and have never paid attention to scrim vs no scrim. I hand quilt and haven't noticed an issue either way.
