I am saving my leftovers for my dog's bed. Will stuff liner and then replace old stuffing in her bed.

Never throw away. I use everything. I take the small ones & tear apart like I was shredding it & use for stufffing.

Yes, I give the birds thread clippings (get LOTS from machine embroidery!) & dryer fluff. Some bird species seem to prefer one thread color or fluff over another. I like to think that if I'm not personally recycling, then the birds get to. It's interesting to see the old nests that get blown down how many have colorful threads & fluff in them -- I leave them out, as they pick thru them again. It breaks my heart when I see broken shells though.

I use them for many things . . . small projects, small quilts, but mainly to practice free motion quilting. I have them stuffed into a laundry bag style bag. It makes a good pillow when I get tired too! (Just kidding about that last part.)

Yes, you can join the batting pieces together to make larger pieces. I do it by overlapping two pieces a little bit and cutting them with a rotary cutter in a wavy line from top to bottom. Remove the scrap left over and then put the pieces together and sew with a zigzag stitch. You will not have a ridge where the pieces were joined because the cuts match exactly. Hope this helps. Happy New Year from East TN.

I keep them. I sew them together 'til they're big enough for whatever I'm doing. I mostly use them for wall hangings.

strips of batting make good purse strap with fabric over them

I have used strips of batting to make 3-D objects on a wallhangings. For a friend, I used one on a cross shaped applique for the wallhanging that I made for him. His DW liked the wall hanging and claimed it for hers. Made him another one.
