Batting shipping question

I am thinking of ordering this batting from Amazon, but the price of shipping ($7.28) seems really low for 40 yards of batting.

Has anyone done this? Is this price right?

Thanks for any info.

It sounds pretty low to me. I'd ask the seller to verify the shipping charges before I ordered it.

I agree - looks way too low, but it came up that way for me too.

Also, check JoAnn's for price. Even with shipping they have a better deal.

Joann's has it for $235 http://www.joann.com/warm-white-cott...0yds/prd33413/ and here is a code for free shipping http://www.retailmenot.com/view/joann.com

I'd ask some questions. It seems awful low to me. But, they might shrink wrap it and ship by weight.

I ordered it from JoAnn's recently (it was 50% off), and I only paid $2.95 shipping (with a coupon). It came (either via UPS or FedEx) in a huge box. Thankfully, the deliveryman took it to the basement door so I could "walk/rock" it into the storage closet. If you can get free shipping, JoAnn's is your best bet.

Oh, thanks!!!! This is just what I need. You are a doll.

I looked at the Amazon thing again, and it says it weighs 1.75 ounces. Now I KNOW that isn't correct. :) I guess the quoted shipping price is based on that incorrect weight?

and how wide is the batting? just making sure you are getting what you wanted.

Excellent question, as I recently bought batting at Hobby Lobby that was only 45 inches wide, when I thought I was getting 90 inches. I won't make that mistake again, but I really appreciate you reminding me. :)

The price at both sites seems right for 90" batting. It comes on the roll folded in half so the roll is really 45" long but once you cut off what you need you open it up to the full 90".

The shipping on the Amazon site definitely seems to low. So I would go with the JoAnn's sale price and take advantage of the free shipping if you can. Roll batting is considered "oversize" by UPS and they charge based on dimensional weight rather than actual weight. So JoAnn's may restrict the use of the free shipping code on this particular item. However Wanda did post she took advantage of it recently so I say go for it before they realize how much they are losing on the shipping charges! I just ordered a bunch of batting direct from Hobbs. I have a resale certificate so can order direct but I had to order a bunch of batting (minimum of 4 rolls or carton combination). A couple of local LAers got together with me to put in the order. Anyway the shipping charges just about gave me a siezure. It was still cheaper than if I had ordered from CT when they had their 30% off sale and free shipping. But that is because I am buying wholesale. The shipping was a rude awakening! I even had enough to ship common carrier which was a far cry cheaper than UPS.

I buy mine from Linda Taylor online shop in Texas, I buy 25 or 30 yards, 108 wide and the shipping usps is $11.00

the mailman got out of the car and told my brother I bought a water heater

i pick up rolls at joanns and they are only 45 wide and 45 yards long about a little bigger that a [big]bear hug around it says on the tag it only weighs 13 lbs...............i think that might be over size for ups shipping ...so if 90 wide it would be at least double ...and that is the fluffy ploy batting not a warm and ???
