I have seen quilts on this site with low and somewhat high loft batting. What do most of you prefer when doing longarm quilting? I don't do it myself. I send all my quilts out to be done. And I let the longarm quilter make the choice. But I myself prefer the low thin type batting, because it is just or maybe warmer than the higher loft batting. Or does anybody know?

I like low loft batting the best and I generally use Hobbs 80/20 or Warm and Natural. The highest loft batting I use is Hobbs wool. My opinion is that high loft poly batting isn't as warm as natural fibers.

I like low loft.

I only use either hobbs 80/20 or warm and natural or all cotton. I like the low loft only.

My two favorites!

I've only ever used Warm and Natural in my limited quilting experience.

I've been using Warm N Natural but I think I'm going to switch to either Hobbs wool or Dream Wool. The Hobbs wool was awesome. I haven't used the Dream Wool.

I've never used a poly before. I just like the lower loft and the idea of the natural fibers.

I have a longarm, and prefer to put only low-loft into her. She spits out fuzz, and coughs alot with higher loft batting

I long arm quilt and prefer cotton or wool. Love the natural fibers. Sort of a snob that way! I enjoy nice sheets and quilts.
when I went to bed the other night I almost cried, feeling fresh sheets off the line and my quilt is wool and a cotton batting, it felt wonderful....
I use Legacy batting now, and love it.
Enjoy!

Thanks for info. Will take into consideration when I next take quilts to longarm quilter. Up until now have not needed a custom job. Quilter I am going to only does set patterns. Large selection but need more for about 5 quilts. Guess I will have to have along talk with new custom quilter.
