Batting
Has anyone bought batting from connecting threads? Just wondering which is the best one to buy?
Thanks |
Hobbs products are wonderful. I use them almost exclusively. Which to buy depends on so many different factors. How much loft do you want? How close/far do you want to be able to quilt? Are you hand quilting or machine quilting? Is warmth a big factor? Do you want a lot of definition in the quilting? Is this a childs quilt that needs to hold up to a lot of rough love and many washings? Is this a quilt for a senior in a nursing home that is subject to industrial laundry? Is the quilt a show quilt or a utility quilt? What is your budget, is price a big factor? As you can see there are many factors to consider. The descriptions on CT for each Hobbs batting are pretty comprehensive. Why don't you take a few moments to read the description on each batting and them make your decision.

I buy the Hobbs wool batting and 80/20. I use a double layer of the 80/20 for most of my bed quilts. I buy the black batting too.

I use Hobbs 80/20 and have gotten it from CT on sale. You can also get it at Hobby Lobby with 40% off coupon it is cheaper.

Hobbs 80/20 is one of my "go to" battings. I love their wool battings but its more $$$.

I order Hobbs Polydown all the time from Connecting Threads. I do long are quitling for customers and that is the main batting I use. My cistomers like it for a poly batting. I have also used the Hobbs 80/20 when I want a cotton batting. It dies shrink more than the Warm and Natural cotton batting and is just a bit thinner--but I like it.

I get my batting from them. I use Hobbs 80/20. It is easy to get under my DSM to FMQ. Also drapes better and not so heavy. Love Connecting Threads. I get their thread and sometimes fabric. I love the quality of the fabric.

I'm so used to warm & natural with the scrim that when I tried hobbs, it felt flimsy. As I smoothed it out it kept trying to stretch and move all over so I decided to stick with W&N.
