Batting for table toppers?
 

I have finished a crazy eight table topper, and it seems that the backing is really all I need. Do you always put think batting in a table topper. I would post a picture but don't know how. Maybe this weekend my dh will teach me.

I like to use something thin for batting in a table runner.

I like to put a batting in my table runners. It gives the recipient an option to put hot dishes on them if they want.

I like to use double knit for table stuff. It lays flat. It gives a bit of loft. And I feel like it dosen't slide like a quilting cotton does.

but then I use what I have-----------and I'm not rules by RULES.

a layer of flannel, thin batting, a piece of denim, generally people like to add something that will add to the body/drape of the item-but not add loft. if you feel your topper is fine without a center layer that is fine too- it's your choice.

I like to use Pellon fleece. Adds a little loft and just enough body

I usually use up my scraps of batting in runners, piece them until I get the size needed. I cant afford to waste those odd pieces you get when trimming up quilts.

I use cotton batting (I pre shrink it) for my table runners so that I can set hot dishes on it without worrying.

if you use cotton or thinsulate you can use it as a hot plate for a pot or baking pan
