Making a queen size quilt and dh said..don't make this one so heavy and hot. :hunf:

So...should I just use flannel sheet for the backing and forget about batting? Have used wm/nat in past but too heavy I guess for summer weight. Not concerned about not seeing a quilting pattern. Just gonna stitch in the ditch. Using a carpenter's wheel block pattern.

I would make a "summer quilt". Cotton top and back, no batting.

I think that Hawaiian quilts are just made with only top and backing fabric as well. Quilts don't have to be hot, just addictive.

No batting, a cotton fabric for batting, flannel, what ever works for the type of climate you have in your area. :D:D:D

Ditto on what grammyp says.

Here is a quilt I made using just the top and cotton backing. You get no dimension in the quilting so I just did stitch on the ditch. I LOVE it on our bed in the summer.

your quilt looks GREAT, I'm glad you mentioned the quilting part, I was wondering about that!

Well now I have another project to add to my list!
I use a regular quilt only a month or two out of the year so that would be a great idea. As a matter of fact this past winter was the worst cold I have had here where I am in Florida 24 years. I used my quilt a lot more than I ever have since making it.

Sounds like an other quilt for me!

Ohhh, I need to make one like that. I always sleep with my quilts. There is no vent in my upstairs bedroom so it can get a little warm. That would be perfect for my bed.
