My daughter is now engaged and marrying a really sweet guy. They want to have a beach wedding and for their wedding present I would love to make them a quilt with a beach theme. Please give me suggestions on a quilt that would make a great wedding present but with a beach theme. Thanks a head of time. Ann

Can you pick out a pattern you like and go with beach fabrics ?

If you're into Mckenna Ryan, she has a beautiful beach quilt.

They are a pricey but wonderful if you're up to the challenge.

I just saw a quilt at a quilt show with a huge flip flop on it. It was so cute. That's pretty beachy.

Where are they getting married? Maine beach wedding would be so much different from one on the islands. Are you looking for something tropical? How big? Cutesy, themed or more mature? Would it go on their bed or wall or throw for living room?

Baby Honu... Has turtles and pp'ing for waves. Just Crabby had pping for waves and crabs.

When I think of Maine, I think of darker blue for water and it makes me think of storm at sea pattern. When I think of Hawaii, I think of the Baby Honu pattern. The tropical islands makes me think of turquoise and blue and lots of different blocks with applique like palm trees, hammocks, islands, pina coladas etc.

Hope that helps a bit...

My thoughts exactly. I've been collecting batiks to make one.

Put out quilt blocks for the guest to sign, then incorporate them into the back of the quilt. That would make a wonderful keepsake. Of course, the quilt won't be ready on the wedding day, but you can then incorporate beach wedding pictures into the quilt too.
