I cut out all the squares last night for the large Teddy Bear quilt that has been posted several times lately.
Me-thinks Mr. Bear would look sweet with a Bow Tie. It seems the bow tie blocks are all on point (that I found). By chance does anyone have a Bow Tie Block not on point. Yes, I can improvise and create, but heck, if someone has already been there done that, it'd save me the work. Second thought is to do it as a 3-D embellishment, partly sewn in place, and partly loose to be tied. Is this a no-no for children's quilts? or acceptable? And the part about Children's Stories ... I often include a story book(s) when it's somewhat of a theme gift. So far the only story I can think that has a bear is Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Any others, that you can suggest? Thanks!! |
berinstean bear books or padington

y DD grew up with the Berenstain(?) bears stories. They taught her many things. Why not have the bowes 3D so the child can learn to tie a bow.

Sent a PM to you, but I think a few well secured embellishments allows the baby quilt to become a toddler's play blanket.

There are lots of books with bears: Brown Bear, Brown Bear, what do you see? (there is actual fabric for this book); Bears on chairs ; Children make terrible pets ; Brown Bear, White Bear ; Bedtime for Bear ; Goodnight Baby Bear ; A bedtime for Bear ; Bear with sticky paws won't go to bed. Talk with a children's librarian and they can probably suggest lots more.

I think you can tell that I don't have kids or Grands ... in that I am not up to date on books!
:) Thanks for the suggestions on the books and the embellishment possibilities. |
