Bed runners
Do you have any suggestions for finding bed runner patterns? Google hasn't been much help this time! Anyone have a tried and true pattern? A search of the board yielded mostly threads about table runners.
|
Looking on Pinterest they look like just about any quilt patter would work. Just make it one or two rows wide
|
There are some quite pretty bed runner patterns out there. I just put “bed runner quilt patterns” in the search. You could also try using bed scarf instead of bed runner.

Here are some links. https://sew4home.com/patchwork-bed-r...ilted-borders/

I made a fun one out of "orphan blocks" from previous quilts I had made. I just decided on the width I wanted and made about four rows, all of which were a different measurement depending on the size blocks I had. I did have to add some "spacer fabric" to make all the rows the same length before I stitched them together. It turned out better than I thought it would.

I think if you just pick your favorite block that you like to make and sew a row or two and that will give you a nice bed runner. You could add whatever size border you want and make it the finished size to your preference.

Google "bed runner quilt patterns"!
|
They're not that different from table runners, which is probably why you got those results. Just need to make them longer if you have a wider bed. I agree with the others, just make a row of your favorite blocks, maybe add a border, quilt it and there you go! 😊

Another name for bed runners is "Bed Scarves". I remember seeing a bed scarf pattern in a magazine. If you google the term bed scarves, you will see many options to make one. Good luck and let us know what you decide.

Sadly I used to have a whole pattern book but I have it away as I thought it was something I would never need.

There are lots of patterns for table runners that can be made as bed
runners. Either make more blocks for add more borders. I guess you have to determine the size that you want and go from there. Check American Patchwork and Quilting. They have lots of patterns for table runners that would also work as bed runners. Or use a quilt pattern and make it skinnier. Graph paper or spreadsheet is your friend when you want to resize a pattern. |

This article has colored photo of lovely bed runners to inspire you for your project. I hope it helps. |
So I found the book Sampler Spree by Susan Ache. This sounds like a book where you can make your blocks and put them together how you wish. I'm wondering if this might be fun to make the bed runner from!

BTW, I just saw a new book by Doug Leko 'Tabletastic 2 Quilt Book'. Not affiliated. Just saw it on the Fat Quarter Shop website. Have fun and show us what you make. |
