I belong to a quilting bee with 5 other ladies (well, sometimes we are!) It's getting time to think about Christmas gifts and I'd like to do something with a bumble bee on it - Remembering that I'll have to make 6 total. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
thanks for a great group of quilters on this board :!:

maybe a bumble bee felted pincushion?

or a traveling needle/thread holder? (like a tri-fold wallet)

I just got a quilt mag, that had "to-go" coffee cozies..

I did some Happy Camper Potholders. One has a bee on it as per attached. Fun and simple and one of my indoctrination into quilting projects. Here's a pic.

There is a free paper piecing bee pattern at:
http://piecebynumber.com/honeybee.htm

Maybe you can use it to make something. It is only a 3 inch block, but I'm sure you could enlarge it to whatever size you want.

SewHappySharon, such a fantastic job you did! It makes one happy to see it. Thanks...did you have a pattern? 80

Our Bee (10 ladies) decided to each make 10 identical gifts to give to each other. Some of them were: Christmas aprons, a small framed picture of our group, tote bags, drawstring jewelry holder, kitchen towels decorated with a Bee (embroidery machine)small sewing kit, etc. Some came from the Dollar Tree and were embellished. It was lots of fun and not hard to do. Quilters make great friends. :-D

I love the adorable pot holders.

I love the potholder idea. Can always use a new clean potholder! And a new kitchen towel, too. This sounds like a couple of winners to me.
Thanks

Hello 80,

Yes, I did have a pattern as this was one of the first things I created and I was none too creative on my own - lol. Name - Happy Camper Potholders. It is Lynn Clark's - Cozy Nook Studio, Madera, CA. Possibly it is only a local thing, though, since I found the pattern at a QS in Oakhurst, CA (near the entrance to Yosemite). I think it would be pretty easy to make one's own patterns for these just by looking, however. Finished size is 7 1/2 x 7 1/2.

I would be happy to loan the pattern if anyone wants it.

Sharon

Sharon...I Googled everything and can't find the pattern, her name or studio :( Could you give us a tutorial or directions for making these? They are just adorable!

I can do a tutorial (do I just do one, or do I have to ask the administrators for help/permission?), but I won't have pics of the work in process. And it may be a few days before I complete it. Not sure if I write it on the board or do a .pdf and upload.

Me again... I contacted the designer for permission and she asked that I give your her email address as this is how she makes a living. Sorry I will not be doing a tutorial, but basically, it's just a tiny quilt that I appliqued, then stippled, then put binding and a loop on. Make them whatever size you like.

Designer - Lynn Clark
Email Address = [email protected]

Good luck. She is looking forward to hearing from you.
