 I love it and use it on my longarm for floppy borders, never had a gummy needle.

Check out this info on it:

i only use 505 , i used june taylor one time and had a problem with it getting gunk on my needle so now i only use 505 and use it lightly

This will help with the needle, but NOT the fabric. I would get a cotton ball slightly damp with acetone, and wipe the needle down every time it begins to be coated. Acetone is the stuff nail polish remover is made of, but nail polish remover has oils in it that may stain your fabric. I think they still sell it at hardware stores, if not, ask at the hardware store, where to get it.

Don't let reading about one bad experience keep you away from spray basting! It really is a blessing. I'm glad the OP gave a heads-up what NOT to do! ;)

I totally agree............

oh my. sorry about the mess. This was definitely a learning experience. You only need a light mist of the stuff.

I just wanted to say be careful about the fumes. Breathing as well as fire.

I just wanted to say be careful about the fumes. Breathing them, as well as fire hazard. Play safe.

I just bought some too. I was going to try using it on my next quilt but guess I'll stick to "tried and true" pin basting.

Dont' be afraid to try it....I just used too much....a learning experience I guess.....once it was sandwiched together, it was very easy to handle and the gumming of the needle is prolly the same, too much spray. I will definitely try again.
