Almost any pattern by Terry Atkinson---she makes her instructions very easy to follow and she has some great patterns. Lucky Stars is a particular favorite of mine.

I am a beginner too!! I took one class to get me started but all the others seem to be while I'm at work! I pour over these magazines that have beginner patterns. I would love to have a really simple jelly roll pattern. I've bought a couple jelly rolls and would love to use them. Good luck with your rehab and God Bless you!

log cabin and disappearing nine patch are good beginners pattens as I am a beginner and cant do binding either
|
I've helped a few beginners over the years and I normally suggest a easy 9 patch or 4 patch to begin with.
|
Love log cabin blocks. Now, for the book's binding that is shot: take it to Office Depot and they will put a spiral binding on it for $3.00 and will also add a clear cover sheet on the outside of the book. I am gradually getting all my soft bound books changed over to spiral bindings.
Turning 20 might be a good beginning block to try also. Good luck in finding the right pattern for you at this time in your recovery. |
Yellow Brick Road, Take 5, or an easy nine-patch/snowball pattern (lots of these free, online). Keep on truckin' and enjoy the journey!

Rail fences is a good beginner quilt. It's also good to go to Quilt Galore and look thru their patterns. The easiest has a single pin. To me, still, the easiest does not have a lot of triangles.

I saw a really cute simple one made with "wedges" that Liz Porter did. You buy that wedge and just cut all these pieces and sew them together with a strip in between sections. Really was cute.
|
I would also throw Rail Fence out there, and then the Disapearing 9 Patch. The rail fence can be done by strip quilting. I LOVE the Missouri Star Quilt Companies tutorials. SO here they are:

I wish you luck in your recovery. I will be keeping you in my prayers . Trip around the world is an easy pattern. It is just a square pattern, but depending on the colors, the possibilities are endless! I would love to have someone do my binding. Then, my family and pets would not have to leave home when I start.
