Oh, I can see another board member getting hooked on applique. Have fun with it. You will love it.

I taught myself to machine applique with Harriet Hargrave's book:
http://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Mach...dp/157120136X/

Highly recommend that book if you want to learn different machine applique techniques. I have done some hand applique, but my hands and fingers are not typically proportioned and my hands cramps up very quickly with hand work.

Hand or machine? there is tons of stuff on you tube and tutorials here and elsewhere...have fun..I taught myself hand applique while make the Quilt Hugs and Kisses by Sue Garman...it was a BOM on the Quilt Show...by the way, it is still not finished, have to do the border...ran out of fabric and put it aside

Is everyone getting the message board? I didn't get one yesterday or today. Does that mean I need to do something to get it?

This is my favorite applique book "Applique the Basics and Beyond: The Complete Guide to Successful Machine and Hand Techniques with Dozens of Designs to Mix and Match" :

http://www.amazon.com/Applique-Basic...ref=pd_sim_b_5

Lots of different methods described.

Is there a LQS near you that has classes? If you are a people person that would probably be the best. Of you could ask at a quilt guild meeting for others who do/or want to learn appliques with you.

If you are good about learning on your own or being self motivated, there are a variety of online tutes. A friend even bought some DVD's so she could learn at her own pace in her TV room.

Me: I'm a people person who does best in groups. I just don't cut well in groups because I get distracted then.

Have fun.
