I agree. I don't think this one needs sashing. Welcome to the board!

I agree with the "mix 'em up" folks....Somebody used the word CONFETTI and that's what the blocks remind me of....so just mix them up well and have fun with the arrangement!

Welcome to the board. I made a quilt similar to yours and I didn't put sashing in it and now I wish I had. (I think. lol). Here's mine.

before committing to either of your photos, I'd love to see them more mixed up!! And sashing really makes colors 'pop' - have fun with it!

Welcome from Northern CA. Thanks for the post I just watched the video and really like the idea of a column quilt. Like I need another idea for a quilt. On your quilt I think that a small sashing would be nice. Like what you have done. I know that what you come up with will be even better. Be sure to show us when you are finished. BrendaK

I like #1 the best except that I would move the dark brown to where the white is to balance it out. Move the white to where the tan stripes are and move the tan to where the dark brown was. I think it would look more balanced. I also like the idea of adding another green row at the bottom if you have enough.

Welcome from the Willamette Valley, Oregon. I like the second one best! :D

Welcome from Natchez, Ms. #1

Welcome to the board!
I would totally scramble the blocks. |

Welcome from WI.

Hi CheshirePat and welcome to the board from NE Ohio.
|
I get the digest version and haven't read thru all 4 pages of comments, so I apologize if this has been mentioned:
I like the second version alot, but I think the last two columns are reversed - if you go across the first row (starting with red and go left to right), it goes dark, light, dark, light, etc until you get to the white (which should be blue to keep the dark, light thing going). Otherwise - lots of movement and cute design! Keep going. |

Just my 2-cents-worth: I love the checkerboard look with the center squares in different positions!! No need for sashing! Just sew them together and enjoy! Good job. And welcome to the board.
|
Sorry - I LIKE THEM BOTH! - I like the wonky way you have them shown, which wold mean you need to add a wonky border ( like the white backround ) and and then put it all together so the blocks are still wonky.... Fun quilt how ever you do it, and I can't wait to see how it ends up.

Even though I am not usually into the modern look, I really like the first layout with the modern feel. I also think it would look fantastic with a really scrappy layout. Hmmm... this post was absolutely no help at all, was it! Please let us know what you decide.
|
It's a little different, but I like different
|
Your quilt is sooo fun!! Please post a picture when your finished, & then post a link here so we can follow it.

Since you asked... I love scrappy and mixed up. Neither one of your photos are mixed up enough for me! Maybe try placing all the blocks randomly. Cool blocks BTW!

I picked up some batik FQ's on sale and came up with squares that look like these...
I just don't know how I'd like to put them together. The straight "rows", or the "checkerboard" rows. Do they need (gasp) sashing? I've been kicking around doing some needlework on the tops, in contrasting color (like blue on the browns, gold on the blue) just haven't decided how yet. I've a MILLION projects in mind (thanks for all the inspiration Q.B.!) and I'm trying to focus my little mind on finishing THIS one first. Sigh. (I've already got some antique handkerchiefs soaking downstairs though...heh) I know the colors are a bit odd on this, I was just going for "bright" and lots of movement. All civil criticism is welcome! and cutting those prints diagonally and putting them together into windmills? ....or some other interesting block, like cutting them into fours. and see how you like it! Perhaps experimenting with changing the shape on paper first, will give you some new ideas? I'm a nidnick - just fold some of them diagonally, or into fours, to try it.... J |
I agree with JanetM I too would mix them up. I think you have a great eye for color. Please keep posting, it is really nice to see the progress. :):):)

Hi, and welcome from Louisiana. I think I would mix up the blocks and use some sashing. It is very pretty and colorful. Good luck, and let us see it when its finished.
|
Welcome to the board. :D I like the second picture much better. I can hardly wait to see it finished.

Both are very pretty. I think I like the 2nd one best. The glory in all of this is you do what you want as you are the artist. Enjoy.
