Barbara T posted a picture of her beautiful quilt that she made from a quilters book for beginners. I have looked at all the pictures of all the beautiful quilts everyone has made. I did notice that everyone does either hand/machine stitching. The quilts that I want to make are the big fluffy type. Does anyone makes those anymore? If so, do you have any pictures? I need to get these types down before I attempt to try machine/hand quilting. When I get to the point of trying that..I will try on a much smaller scale.

I have made a few of the big fluffy types- my kids prefer them & they are actually harder for me to do than a quilt with thinner batting. The thinner batting (Warm & Natural, 80/20, etc) is much easier to hand or machine quilt. I did machine a quilt I made out of the thickest batting (poly) I could find & it was a bear to do & I have a Janome 1600 machine that will sew through anything! I would think that most of the really thick quilts will have to be tied, which I have done too.

I did ONE! I actally managed to SID regular machine, but I fought it constantly. If I were to do another, I would tie it.

I always tie my "fluffy" quilts.
