beginning and ending threads

What do you do with the beginning and ending threads when quilting the quilt? Do you bring them both to one side and tie them off and then bury the threads in the batting? I don't find this subject in any of my quilting books. This is my first quilt, and it is not for me, so I want to do it correctly.

I bring them up and bury them using a cheater needle. It makes it go faster. Some people just take a couple of tiny stitches at the beginning and end. Try out both on a practice piece and see what you like the looks of doing.

I also bury my threads. I don't think it takes much longer than the other method of taking lots of tiny stitches.

Yes, I bring them to one side, tie a knot and use an easy thread needle to bury the ends in the sandwich. I leave about a 1 inch tail in the sandwich before trimming off the extra.

For show I would bury but for personal I would just take tiny stitches with the machine and cut

You answered your own ?. I have even put a piece of painters tape over the thread ends while quilting to keep them out of the way. And I can see where they are to bury them after I'm done quilting. Some people just take a few back stitches on the machine but I am not talented enough to make that method look neat on the back of the quilt. I like burying them. Post a pic for us to enjoy if you can!

I usually take them to the back, tie a knot then using a cheater needle....bury the ends about an inch into the batting. Hope this helps. You'll have to let us see your finished quilt.

I bury them. Usually in front of the tv when I don't feel like doing much else
