Is there a reason you can't use 50% cotton and 50% ploy?

found a good bargin on some and was just wondering...

Just preference ;)..

I think you possibly could, but when trying to quilt I think the cotton quilts easier than the blends and also the fabric after washing has a certain appeal to it.

Hmmm, that is a really good question. Just remember to also use a poly/cotton batting, thread etc.... I think you would be happier with results, especially after washing.

Cotton poly blends tend to fray more, I would increase the seam allowances JMHO :D:D:D

i just don't like the feel of polycotton plus it ravels like crazy. you may like it, try it to decide.

Well, that's cool to know....I will give it a try since walmarts has a good bargin on the fabric...

I do it all the time - especially on strip quilts - but I use my serger when I do - keeps the fraying to a minimum

Remember, it's your quilt so do it your way...just watch the fraying as advised above and you shouldn't have any problems.

also, what kind of a quilt are you making -something for the kids, or an heirloom wedding present? Easy pattern or tough? If you are going to put a LOT of time and effort into it, it is worth while to use better fabric.
