Hi Everyone! I've just joined (after being a guest for a while) and you all sound so nice. I've just started quilting and I would like to make the Bento Box. Does anyone have a pattern/instructions I could download? Thanks so much! :D

Olivia's Grammy 10-29-2009 04:32 PM

I have the pattern, if you PM me I'll email it to you.

SaraSewing 10-29-2009 04:35 PM

Can you show us a photo of what it looks like? Looking at photos is my way of "shopping" without spending any money! (Eye candy)

Olivia's Granny...Thanks, except I don't know what PM means? Sorry

zennia 10-29-2009 04:39 PM

here is one I found last night. Hope it helps.

It means Personal Message

LucyInTheSky 10-29-2009 09:56 PM

If you have trouble or ?s, send me a private message (click on my picture to the left, and select private message at the bottom). I did my own variation of a Bento Box a few months ago. It's really simple and easy. So if questions come up, just let me know and I'll be happy to help

Working on one right now and I used this site and googled some pictures. I couldn't figure out the instructions so I figured out what size the pieces needed to be. I was able to use fat quarters which helped because I wanted it scrappy. It is ready to go on the grace frame for quilting.
Good luck on yours!
If you want/need more details-send me a PM.

2 doods, that is a great quilt. Love how bright it is. Your furry supervisor barks his approval too!

2 Doods. That is beautiful. I made mine with Christmas prints and was not pleased with it. I donated to a friends school for a raffle. I think it brought in about $200.00 for the school.

Grandma65 10-30-2009 08:06 AM

Thanks so much! I'll keep that in mind - wish me luck :D

Grandma65 10-30-2009 08:07 AM

The nice thing about knowing both techniques is ... with one you have to have a certain amount of like-minded fabrics, so to speak.
with the other one, you know how to use up scraps.
Thank you to both quilters for posting these sites.

i am so sorry about your BIL, I would suggest something bright and simple, otherwise you will be concentrating on it and not him. I do hope all goes well with you all!

Yes, there is a pattern by Tracey Brookshier that came out years ago and has been updated and reissued. This one of those places where the whole "copyright" thing gets me so confused and weary. I have seen this pattern done in free tutorials and posts... and frankly, I don't see anything wrong with that....

I like the bento box pattern. It looks like fun! The bright colors are very cheery.

I was thinking...Why do you have to have your paw on the quilt? My dog does the same thing..you tell her not to come in the kitchen and she sits right there in the living room w/ 1 paw touching the kitchen floor...LOL They are just to funny. Beautiful quilt by the way.

At least dogs pretend to mind their humans. Cats just flop down in the middle and won't move!

I'm curious if anyone has a pattern that uses jelly rolls for the bento box? I'm not locating a free one on the net anymore, but I know there used to be one that used a jelly roll???
