Hi friends!
Thanks to the board member who directed me to a blog by Crystal who has a shortcut for making the Bento box quilt blocks.
My darling sweet youngest son is getting married in March to a Japanese woman and I'm making it for them in batiks.

The reason I'm telling you all about if first is I want you to kick me off this board if you see me too much LOL
I need to get going on this hahaha :D:D:D

I think it will be a wall hanging b/c I can't MQ well yet so I'll need to hand quilt it.
Sue

rebeccalr 01-12-2011 06:31 AM

This tute is WONDERFUL!! I actually drew out a bentobox in my quilting notebook as a pattern I want to do. This will save me so much time!

lnklovesquilts 01-12-2011 07:32 AM

what is a bento box??

glassdriller 01-12-2011 10:10 AM

Bento is a single-portion takeout or home-packed meal common in Japanese cuisine. A traditional bento consists of rice, fish or meat, and one or more pickled or cooked vegetables, usually in a box-shaped container.

cjomomma 01-12-2011 11:05 AM

Congratulations!! The quilt will be lovely. How far have you gotten on it today?

KLO 01-12-2011 11:23 AM

I also have been wanting to make this pattern. I have had a picture of it hanging in my sewing room for about 4 years!!! Yikes! So thanks for the great tute. You have spurred me on to get going with it.

Thanks for the blog address !!!!

Thought - that looks pretty and looks as if it might work up quickly. Went to sewing room to see what fabrics might do from stash. While there eyes skipped to DMC threads bought yesterday and not put away. Went to bedroom (cross stitch stash), pulled the rest of the threads, found linen and put the first stitches in halloween witch. Bento box tomorrow if I can keep my grasshopper mind on the right track! LOL

bubbe1659 01-14-2011 12:56 PM
