Hi! I have a Bernina 1230 and I was sewing on a project when then thread broke. So I took a break. When I came back and rethreaded the machine the needle is hitting something in the bobbin area. I took the manual out and followed the instructions for cleaning and oiling the hook race. While I had it apart I tried moving the needle down with the handwheel and it is still hitting a part that moves the part of the hook race that I can't figure how to remove or shift. I sorry that I don't know all the correct terms. Has anyone else had this problem and how did you fix it?
I am in the middle of quilting a baby quilt that needs to be finished ASAP and I am hoping it is something I can fix. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. |
Have you changed the needle? Do so!
Rethread the machine from the start including the bobbin. Did you change feet at some point? Remove and replace it with another foot, just to check if there's a difference. Jan in VA |
My husband came home and started tinkering with it. It ended up being the handwheel was jammed and would not rotate. We found this out by trial. He started taking the back of the machine off and all of a sudden the handwheel started turning in full rotation! I am so glad he is handy.
