Does anybody have an instruction book on the Bernina 170?
Bernina does not and I haven't found one yet. Thanks!

Try posting an ISO ad on both SewItsForSale and BerninaThirtySomethings, both free yahoo groups. You already looked for it under "Out of Print Manuals" on the Bernina website?

The Bernina shop in OKC had an extra book for my "old" 830... I couldn't find mine... maybe your local Bernina dealer can help you out? When I asked, their response suggested this is a common thing...

There is a website called mastersewusa.com that has copies of the manual for around $20 or you can get a download for about $5.

Bernina does have the older instruction books on their website, but it may not be in the most logical place. Here's the PDF for the 170. http://www.berninausa.com/webautor-d...70-a180_EN.pdf

Thanks,Terrilee---I found the page showing how to lower the feed dogs (now how do I raise them?) I like the pdf of directions and have ordered the instruction manual for $20.
I just never had an instruction book when I traded my other machine in for this one. My Bernina 170 was a trade in, so guess the original owner didn't have an instruction book???
Funny, because I have asked for one and they said, no book for it???? Live and learn, eh? Many thanks! Marilyn

Sorry...I don't check this board a lot. But to raise the feed dogs, you just press the button again that you used to lower them. The feed dogs won't go up until you start stitching, so don't worry about that. I have a Bernina 180, so if you have any questions, PM me and I'll send you my private email address. You'll love the 170...great machine.

Yes, I found out to raise the feed dogs was to start sewing again (button on end did nothing.) Thanks for your help! I have ordered a book from another suggestion of a QB member and expect it any day. Marilyn
