Bernina 750 or 780 embroidery machine?

My dsil wants to upgrade her Bernina with an embroidery unit. She is undecided as to whether to get the software for her 750 or go ahead and trade it in for the 780 with the software already built in. She can buy the floor model for a good price even though they are so expensive. She's a great seamstress and makes tons of gifts so I know she would really enjoy having the embroidery feature. Have any of you used either of these machines? If so, please give us some feedback as to how good they are and which you think she should purchase. Thanks for all for helping with this momentous decision! lol! Love this board for info. thanks in advance!

Will the shop take her 750 for trade or consignment or would she keep it as a back up machine? I'd go with the 780. I got a great deal on an 830 Bernina that was a floor model with only a few hours on it. Very satisfied. This was my fifth Bernina. One did go to my daughter, but otherwise I have two at each home (summer and winter). I am very fortunate to be able to afford this luxury.

Thanks for the input. She has actually gone to trade hers in today. I think she will be very happy. Can't imagine not being happy with a top-of-the-line Bernina. Yes, you are blessed to be able to have them too! Happy sewing!

I've been looking to buy the 750...but have to decide between that and a boob job... The only reason I prefer the 750 over the 780 is that the 780 is too heavy for me to lift. I have no clue how I'd be able to carry that machine out to the car if it needs servicing or whatever.

Sorry for the confusion . . .I've been extremely happy with my Bernina 780 since July 2013 . . .and I don't have a clue what software she means? Mine came with the embroidery module and a couple of hoops . . .i had to pay an extra $2K for the software.

As I understand, the 750 doesn't have layers when you're doing embroidery, and the 780 does. Which means that if you want to put a name with a design, you'd have to embroider them out seperately on the 750. But with the 780, you can combine them on the screen, and can work with several layers at a time on one project. They both come with the regular software. If you wanted to add software, you'd add the digitizing software, which makes it so you can scan something and turn it into an embroidery design. Most people don't need that.
