I think your dealer sold it low.

I've seen embroidery machines with over 100 million stitches still going strong. It all depends on how well the machine is taken care of. Last Christmas I did stockings for 21 people and each design was anywhere from 30,000 to 80,000 stitches plus I added a name so there's even more stitches. I put over a million stitches on my machine in less than a month. So that Bernina is barely broke in.

Sounds pretty low to me, too. I wonder if that one had everything that the machine the OP was looking at did? Without seeing the complete package it's hard to tell if you're comparing apples to apples. And, as someone else mentioned, there's always the location factor. Things are more expensive in some parts of the country especially on used items where there's no set price.

I don't think that is too many for a Bernina. I have a Bernina 200E and it has way more than that. If they are serviced and checked regularly they can have many more and run like a dream.

My Brother Duetta 4500D just passed 38 million stitches and my Bernina Aurora 440 has 31 million... both are still working just like new with just the required maintenance. 8 million on a quality machine is nothing to be overly concerned about as long as it has been taken care of.

I purchased my machine in 2008, have had it serviced every year - most of these machines in this area do not have even half that many stitches. I really like my machine! The 820 and 830 are no longer made, now they have an 880. Maybe in a couple of years Bernina will have a new TOL machine.
