bernina artista 200 keeps locking up on me

I was able to purchase this machine from a friend who bought it new. She only put 19 hours on this machine. I have had it for about a month. I have done a lot of sewing on it and just love it. I have not had any problems until now. I have to keep restarting it for it to work. It will stop sewing and the touch screen will stop working. I have checked to make sure it is plugged in all the way and the room is not too cold. What could be wrong with my machine????

Hmmm. Sounds like a service is in order. I hope it's not too costly of a repair. I would guess it has something to do with the computer/mother board. Maybe a loose connection(hopefully!).

I think it will have to go to the shop but don't panic yet. It might be something as simple as the foot pedal. My old Bernina had a ghost. I would take my foot off the pedal and it would keep on sewing. Scared the bejeesus out of me but I just needed a new foot pedal. You could have a short in the cord, switch or pedal. Definately get an estimate though before doing anything else.

If computer related, it may be under warranty. I would certainly ask at time of repair.

Have you tried another wall outlet? Or maybe a surge protector. It's important for the machine to get
constant and even power.

Wow, I pray that I do not have to take this in for repair already. I just bought this secound hand from a lady that I know really well. She says that there were only 19 hours on this machine. It does not have a warranty since it is second hand. I will see if it continues. If it does I will take it in for check up.

Hi, I am having the same trouble with mine! Did you find out what the solution was? Please help!
Thanks,
Bonni

You do need to take your Bernina every year or 18 months just to get it serviced. Sort of like the same thing you do with your car. I have two older Bernina and knock on wood, no major repairs as of yet.
